Part two of the Fast Track series will help you develop more advanced techniques for sketching more complex products in perspective fast and effectively.
Starting with products that combine linear and cylindrical forms, this course will help you get grip on sketching products with even more complex geometry. You will also learn some clever shortcut methods to quickly jump into a design exploration, sketching multiple design variations straight in perspective!
The course also includes a bonus module that covers a highly effective method for setting up sketches with user scenarios!
Forty-three lessons packed with advanced techniques and methods for effective design sketching.
Module 1 - Combined products
Module 2 - Complex geometry
Module 3 - Redesign
Module 4 - Setting the scene
Also included:
Fast Track TWO - Reference pack
Design Sketching cheat-pack
How to...
✔ correctly combine linear and cylindrical forms to sketch composite products in perspective
✔ setup products with more complex geometry in perspective
✔ develop and apply an efficient workflow in (re)designing products
✔ sketch user scenarios by creating your own reference material
Forty-three lessons packed with advanced techniques and methods for effective design sketching.
Module 1
In this first module we will look at what happens when we combine linear and cylindrical geometry in one product. We will cover the major pitfalls and learn how to setup the cylindrical elements in correspondence with the linear product parts.
to apply the basic principles of perspective for combinations of linear and cylindrical forms
to apply an exploratory sketching mindset to investigate different points of view
to develop and train your critical eye to spot and prevent common pitfalls in combining linear and cylindrical forms
to apply markers for shading of combined forms
to apply a communicative sketching mindset to upgrade your product sketches
Module 2
In this module we will learn how to get grip on more complex geometry. You will learn how to break down organic product forms in simple orthogonal views and use those to construct the product back up in any perspective.
to get familiar with simple construction methods for more complex geometry
to apply an exploratory sketching mindset to investigate different points of view
to develop and train your critical eye
to apply markers for shading of complex geometry
to apply a communicative sketching mindset to upgrade your product sketches
Module 3
In this third module we will be looking at some highly efficient techniques and methods to set you up for a design exploration. You will learn how to create effective underlays to stay in control of proportions and perspective while (re)designing simple and more complex products.
to create effective underlays using photography
to apply underlays to control proportions and perspective in your sketches
to apply an exploratory sketching mindset to investigate new design directions
to apply a communicative sketching mindset to upgrade your product sketches
Module 4
In the final module you will learn how to create your own reference material for effectively setting up scenario and storyboard sketches.
to create effective reference material by acting out a scenario
to apply underlays to setup scenario sketches
to apply an exploratory sketching mindset to investigate opportunities in the scenarios
to apply a communicative sketching mindset and turn your sketch into a compelling story
